Cuba Shines With Hola Sun

Cuba specialist Hola Sun Holidays is happy to host cavemen. And cavewomen as well.

Hola Sun sales representative Roberto Diaz Ganuzas told a July 22 Toronto gathering that among Varadero excursions his company offers are ones showcasing two caves – one home to stalactites and the other having an underground river.

Diaz Ganuzas added that Varadero also offers golf and has many nightclubs found outside its resorts, all of which underscores Cuba’s evolution beyond it simply being a beach resort destination.

The company – which will hold a Sept. 16 product launch in Mississauga, Ont., and is marking its 25th year – plans to add car rentals and multi-day motorcoach tours to its winter program, which also features the likes of air-only and land-only options, and long-stay vacations for the likes of “snowbirds.”

Hola Sun is also inviting people to spend time in two locations on a Cuba vacation, with one option being three days in Havana and four in Varadero.

Clients can also divide a vacation between the city of Santiago and Holguin, and Hola Sun will be offering winter stays that have people spend part of their time in Cienfuegos and then further time in either Cayo Santa Maria or the southeastern Cuban city of Trinidad.

“The ones who are used to Cuba now are exploring more,” Hola Sun sales account manager Veronica Duenas told Press Today.

Duenas said that Trinidad – which predates Havana – is home to “beautiful colonial architecture. Trinidad has so much history and culture.”

Hola Sun – which bills itself as “the Cuba specialist” – sends clients to Cuba on Cubana A320 aircraft.
Meanwhile, Scarleth Ruiz, sales director with Blau Hotel & Resorts – which has properties in the likes of Varadero and Holguin, as well as the Dominican Republic and Spain – praised Hola Sun as “one of its [Blau’s] best partners.”

Blau has a choice of properties in both Varadero and Holguin, with the latter not seeing as many tourists as hugely popular Varadero, but which Ruiz labelled a “very, very nice destination.”

Ruiz added that Blau has a free wedding package for couples who book seven nights in a Cuba resort and will see hotel staff set up the wedding site, and provide the likes of a room upgrade and sparkling wine to the couple.

The “very good package” doesn’t have maximum or minimum numbers of people requirements, she added.
