Dean Dacko has joined Voyages Encore Travel as its chief commercial officer. The announcement of Dacko’s appointment – which is effective immediately – was made by Monique Mardinian, CEO and founder of Voyages Encore Travel.
In his new role, Dacko will be responsible for all commercial functions including new business development, account management, marketing, vendor relations, and product development.
Said Mardinian: “Dean adds a wealth of experience to our team, bringing with him an extensive background in the global travel industry, both in Canada and internationally.”
Dacko spent five years as director of marketing for Air Canada Vacations and nine years as vice-president of Travel Solutions for Carlson Marketing. He also spent three years as senior vice-president, head of marketing and product for Malaysia Airlines based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in addition to several other executive roles at Budget Rent a Car Canada, and Just Vacations Ltd.
He was responsible for the Crisis Management and Business Continuity programs for Malaysia Airlines during and following the twin tragedies of MH370 and MH17, and managed the worldwide communications effort to recover from two of the most widely published and mysterious events in aviation history. His actions were recognized as being responsible in the recovery of over $1 billion in lost revenue in less than nine weeks, and supported the airline’s ability to regain global brand stability and network wide commercial viability.
Most recently acting as chief commercial officer, Dacko was responsible for the commercial development and establishment of New Leaf Travel Company’s airline, NewLeaf, as the newest Ultra Low Cost Airline in Canada.
Dacko will be located at the Encore Travel headquarters in Montreal, and can be reached at 514-738-7171, ext 207.
