To celebrate #GivingTuesday, Delta Air Lines is donating $1.5 million to select non-profit organizations who align with the company’s focus on advancing education, expanding global health and wellness, promoting arts and culture, saluting armed service members and veterans, supporting global diversity and sustaining the environment.

The contribution is part of Delta’s commitment to donate 1% of its net income from the previous year to key charitable organizations.

In 2016, Delta is projected to give $37 million to charitable organizations.

The six organizations selected, who will each receive $250,000, include Feeding America; Junior Achievement USA; The Nature Conservancy; UNCF (United Negro College Fund); USO; and the YMCA.

Tad Hutcheson, Delta’s managing firector – community affairs, said: “Giving Tuesday serves as a great reminder for all of us to help those in need during the holiday season. At Delta, giving back is part of our DNA and we are committed to supporting the communities where our employees live, work and serve.”

Now in its fifth year, #GivingTuesday is a global movement to give back to others. Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the charitable season.
