Canadians love Germany, with visitation numbers showing an increase of 9.7% for January to April period.

Overall, Germany’s Federal Statistical Office registered 21.29 million overnight stays by foreign visitors in accommodations with 10 or more beds. Compared to the same four months of last year, this amounts to 1.318.432 additional overnights, an increase of 6.6%.

Canadian travellers contributed to this success with a total of 144,333 overnights from January to April 2016.

“While the first three months of the year have been traditionally slow, Canadians are exploring our beautiful country again,” says Antje Splettstoesser, director of marketing and sales for the German National Tourist Office in Canada. “Looking at April alone, we see an increase of 9.7% and expect the positive trend to continue. Destination Germany, with its modern cities and the variety of its countryside continues to be a magnet to the Canadian traveller.”
