The Caribbean island of Jamaica is getting a little closer to Vancouverites with the start-up of a new direct flight service by Sunwing from Vancouver to Montego Bay.

The tour operator already offers vacation packages from the city to Jamaica, but this is the first winter that the island has been accessible via a direct flight service. Starting Dec. 19, Sunwing will be operating weekly flights until April 17, 2018. These are expected to be the only direct flights by any carrier to Jamaica from Vancouver.
