Placido Calore and 407488 Ontario Ltd. o/a Business & Vacation Travel Planners and Blue Mountain Travel have been charged with: One count of carrying on business with Carolyn Solomon and 1924067 Ontario Inc., who were required to be registered as travel agents, but were not in fact so registered, contrary to the Travel Industry Act; one count of failing to notify the Registrar, five days in advance of closing of its Trust Account; 25 counts of failing to deposit customer payments received for travel services into the trust account of the Registrant.

Placido Calore was a director and shareholder of Blue Mountain Travel, which voluntarily terminated its registration effective July 31. Blue Mountain Travel operated in Toronto and elsewhere in Ontario.

The first court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 14, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Offences Court, in Toronto.
In other news, on Nov. 24, TICO’s board of directors approved payment of $8,084.58 to assist two consumers who were at risk of not receiving the travel services for which they had paid.

The payment was due to the closure of John Douglas Mills formally operating as Algonquin Travel in Oshawa.
