DINE OUTSIDE THE BOX AT BURNER RESTAURANT

Beehive burners, a one-time regular sight at logging operations across BC, have all but disappeared now — except for the one in the community of Malakwa, near Sicamous. The 21-metre-high Burner Restaurant & Lounge is an imposing structure, with its distinct wide-at-the-base cone shape. In the rural forestry industry, it was used to burn off sawdust and other waste wood products in day-to-day operations. This one was salvaged from the closed Beaumont Mill and now serves tasty meals. Inside its Douglas fir and cedar post-and-beam interior, it is fitted with restored machinery and images from logging days past. (http://www.theburner.ca)
