Discover Italy’s Hidden Hiking Gems With Karibu

karibu adventures is celebrating its inaugural tour series to a lesser-known hiking paradise in the Italian Alps with an attractive 15% offer on all summer 2023 tour departures.

The seven-day tours take enthusiast travelers to the Alta Valsesia, a hidden gem and UNESCO Geopark located at the foot of the Monte Rosa, the Alps’ second highest peak after Mont Blanc.

Based in the quaint alpine village of Alagna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the tour is a one-of-a-kind local insider’s guide to spectacular hiking and the unique local culture of Italy’s Walser community.

Andrea Mandel-Campbell, founder of karibu adventures, said: “Our family has lived in the Valsesia for 500 years. We wanted to share this special place, but do it in a way that preserves its authentic charm and allows our guests to experience its deep history and culture in a human and personal way.”

Mandel-Campbell continued: “We share our favourite hikes, guiding small groups of hikers through lush hanging valleys and up to panoramic mountain refuges. And we visit many of our family homes, from a simple shepherd’s rock hut high in the mountains to an iconic three-storey wood and stone house known as a Baita that are hallmarks of the valley.”

karibu has four departures scheduled to the Alta Valsesia this summer with the first tour scheduled for June 4-11. The second departure on June 18 is sold out however private custom-made small group program can be arranged. A second set of departures are scheduled for Sept. 10 to Sept.16 and Sept. 24 to Sept. 30.

karibu operates two other spectacular tours in Canada this summer. The first tour is a five-day fly-in canoe trip through one of Canada’s canoeing meccas, the Temagami wilderness area in Northern Ontario. And a seven-day tour to Vancouver Island’s Northeast Coast which combines sea kayaking, abundant wildlife viewing and opportunities to meet local Indigenous carvers, storytellers and cultural leaders on their ancestral territories.
