Discovering Amazing ‘Thai-versity’

The Tourism Authority of Thailand is taking pride in being part of Gay Pride celebrations in Toronto.

The tourism authority and Goway Travel together held a Friday Toronto gathering labelled Amazing Thai-versity, a play on diversity and underscoring that Thailand is accepting of different lifestyles.

“We are very glad to be part of Pride Month in Toronto,” said Teerasil Tapen, the tourism authority’s director for the Americas.

Viktor Spysak of the tourism authority’s Toronto office, said tourism is a force for good.

“We want to recognize the importance of tourism…for a better world,” he said.

Thailand is a gay-friendly destination, Spysak continued.

Those on hand were told that Thailand may soon allow same-sex marriages.

The lively gathering featured a drag queen and also saw Thai food served.

Meanwhile, the tourism authority is welcoming Air Canada’s announcement that it will have non-stop Vancouver-Bangkok service this winter.
As well, as of July 1, international visitors wanting to enter Thailand will only need to show proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID test taken within the past 72 hours.
