End of an era comes June 15

It will be the end of an era in Toronto on June 15 when The Sutton Place Hotel closes its doors. General manager Nick Vesely announced the news of the closing in March to staff of the 45-year landmark hotel, news that the hotel has been sold and that the sale will result in the cessation of business on June 15. “We announced the information to our team prior to making a public statement in order to allow our staff to absorb this news,”commented Vesely, a 15-year member of the team. “Naturally this is sad news as it marks the end of decades of some of the finest hospitality offered in Toronto. The hotel has seen many twists and turns over the years, but what has remained constant is the manner the staff has served the traveller — with grace, elegance and passion.”He added, “We have played host to kings, queens, rock stars, film icons and countless travellers who have allowed us to provide service to them through the years. We are certainly open for business now and hope that people will return for another visit before June 14.”To make these memorable stays easier to achieve, the hotel is offering rates from $126. The hotel is being converted to condos, as well as new retail and restaurant space.
