Enjoying What You Do

In conversation with Canadian Travel Press, the Langham Hospitality Group’s Regional Director of Operations for North America, Europe and the Middle East as well as being the Managing Director of the Langham, London, Bob van den Oord observed that: “There will always be bumps in the road but I am bullish on the future of travel, and luxury travel in particular. I also have a very positive outlook on the return of business travel which may not look the way it once did but which I believe will come back.”

“We have seen improved performance in the U.S. Prior to the Omicron surge late last year, our U.S. hotels were having their most successful November and Decembers on record,” explained van den Oord, before continuing: “That demand has returned and our U.S. hotels are currently in good stead – April was hugely successful from both a revenue and RevPar standpoint and May is already shaping up to be very strong. Our U.S. hotels are currently operating at over 70% occupancy on average and ADR in the States is expected to surpass pre-pandemic levels by late 2022 into early 2023.”
