Flight Centre Gives Back
Flight Centre Canada has teamed up with Aeromexico for the company’s third annual Employee Charity trip.
On Nov. 16, Flight Centre Travel Group employees from across the country will be travelling to Guatemala to raise awareness and funds for Project Somos, an eco-sustainable community for at-risk mothers and children.
The Flight Centre Travel Group team is made up of members from the Flight Centre Leisure, FCBT, Corporate Traveller, FCm Travel Solutions and Stage & Screen Travel Services brands, all eager to help raise money for the cause. Each member is responsible for their trip costs as well as a minimum $1,000 in donations to Project Somos.
Founded by Canadian couple Heather Knox and Greg Kemp, the Project Somos Children’s Village is a nurturing community for at-risk mothers and children in Guatemala. As an orphan prevention program, the village supports widowed and single mothers who are at risk of losing their children due to poverty and difficult living situations. The Flight Centre team will be helping support the Project Somos staff with the mothers and children and assist in completing ongoing construction projects, such as the fourth family home and the medical clinic and neighbourhood house.
“Inspiring travel is an important part of Aeromexico’s culture. As a Latin American-oriented airline, the carrier is committed to supporting this project in the Guatemalan community and promote activities within the socially responsible foundations in Canada,” said Michele Martinson, regional director of sales in Canada at Aeromexico. “The airline is extremely proud to partner with Flight Centre to help bring their Canada team members together such a unique experience in their year by year annual Charity trip and will keep looking for involvement in future actions.”
