G Adventures hosts ‘Future of Tourism’ event

On May 31, G Adventures will host an evening of discussion and debate in Vancouver to raise awareness of sustainable tourism. The event, Future of Tourism, will feature “a creative exchange between visionaries from a panel of celebrated industry experts.”Tourism is one of the largest industries on earth. It is worth $6 trillion, generates 9.1% of the world GDP, and supports more than 258 million jobs worldwide. Furthermore, tourism is the fundamental lifeline and vital to the livelihood of countless countries globally,”says Bruce Poon Tip, G Adventures’ founder. “It possesses the power to stimulate and strengthen economies, create employment opportunities and foster financial security, in addition to battling poverty and building a stable future. With hundreds of millions of international tourists travelling every year, sustainable tourism is vital to minimize the negative implications of travel, while maximizing its power to help make positive change in the world.”Speakers include Poon Tip, Paula Vlamings, co-executive director of Planeterra, Daniel Noll and Audrey Scott, travel bloggers – UncorneredMarket.com; Social Media Strategists, UN Foundation’s Global Sustainable Tourism Council, plus a special message from environmentalist David Suzuki. The event will be held at The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts. Agents are invited to attend the VIP reception that begins at 5:45 p.m. The presentation begins at 7:15 p.m. Travellers, agents, media and travel industry representatives will be in attendance.
