G Adventures Pleased with New Tibet Policy
G Adventures is inviting all travellers, including those from Canada, to join all group trips to Tibet after the Chinese government announced travel permits to the country would no longer have nationality constraints.
The tour operator has been taking travellers to Tibet for over five years, but up until recently, Chinese government laws permitted only a maximum of three nationalities on each trip. Updated laws mean all travellers are now welcome to immediately choose from and book without any restriction a range of G Adventures trips, regardless of the nationality of fellow travellers who will share in their journey.
“In the past, we have sometimes had to disappoint travellers who were eager to visit Tibet because we were unable to obtain a permit for them due to there already being travellers of three other nationalities booked on the trip,” says Denise Harper, director of sales, Canada, G Adventures.
“For instance if a Canadian traveller expressed an interest in joining a particular trip to Tibet, but travellers holding British, Australian and Japanese passports had booked ahead of them, we would have to encourage them to consider another departure date.”

- High Road to Tibet – Travellers can experience the Tibetan cultural capital of Lhasa, witness monks in prayer, explore rural villages and lunar landscapes and hike to Everest Base Camp. Trips from $2,899.
- China, Yangtze and Tibet Explorer – Explore Tibet as part of a larger adventure around the region where travellers can ponder Tibetan spirituality in Buddhist temples and monasteries and gain more cultural insight with an expert guide. Trips from $3,999.
