Jamaica House Toronto, the official meeting grounds for Jamaican athletes, supporters and patriots at the 2015 Pan Am & Parapan Am Games, kicked off yesterday (July 22) with an industry event.

Held at Atlantis in Ontario Place, the launch featured Kaci Fennell, Miss Universe Jamaica 2014, Janice Miller, Jamaica’s High Commissioner to Canada and Lloyd Wilks, Jamaica’s Consul General to Toronto, as well as Jamaican food and drinks.

“The Jamaica House brings you the best of our brand flavours,” Wilks said. “This represents our brand in every way, shape and form.”

Organized by JACANA Group, with the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) as title sponsors, Jamaica House Toronto will include nightly entertainment by top Jamaican musical acts like Maxi Priest, Baby Cham, I-Octane and Rootz Underground.

“I’ve been here for three years, seven months and the thing that struck me most about this wonderful city is the diversity, the food, the people,” Philip Rose, regional director, JTB in Canada, said. “And Jamaica continues to be the most diverse destination in the Caribbean… As such we saw it as an opportunity to bridge the two cultures. We also saw it as an opportunity to sprinkle some Jamaican spice into the Pan Am Games.”
