The Intrepid Group has officially launched Geckos Adventures into the Canadian market.
The news comes alongside the announcement they will be dedicating trips exclusively to 18- to 39-year-olds next year. Geckos had previously been represented in Canada through Adventure Center and will now operate independently as part of the Intrepid Group. The Intrepid Group also represents Intrepid Travel, Peregrine Adventures and Urban Adventures.
“We are excited to be launching the Geckos brand and bringing a dedicated youth adventure product into the Canadian market,” said Christian Wolters, VP of Sales & Marketing for the Intrepid Group in Canada.
“People in their 20s and 30s want to feel like they are travelling with a group of friends. Agents were telling us that this is a strong factor in the decision making process for travellers in this age group, so we’ve taken this feedback on board and identified an opportunity in the market for small group adventures exclusively for young people,” said Christian.
He added, “The Geckos’ style of travel is perfectly suited to travellers in their 20s and 30s – our trips are independent in style, escorted by a local leader, allow for lots of free time and have the best price in the market. Geckos is a young and fun brand, so it makes sense to offer trips for people in their 20s and 30s only.”
Geckos will also be increasing trip frequency by adding more departures for the 18- to 39-year-old trips, making it easier for agents to find a suitable date for their clients.
Geckos’ trips have an average of 10 passengers and a maximum of 16, allowing for a more intimate travel experience and creating opportunities for fun local experiences that are often not possible in larger groups. This includes taking public transport, staying at smaller and more personal hotels and eating at small local restaurants.
Geckos’ 18 to 39 year old trips will be included in the 2015 brochure release and will be on offer from next year.
