Canadians travelling to Germany this holiday season can find help online when seeking the perfect setting for a taste of the season, or, if in Germany on business, which Christmas markets in the city of their meetings and in nearby towns fit best into their schedules. The home page of the German National Tourist Office’s web site — http://www.germany.travel — lists 150 Christmas markets in its “Specials” category, under Christmas. Web visitors get a first impression watching a slideshow of various markets. Each photo links through to the particular market and town. The Please Select menu, lists the markets alphabetically by city, all complete with a brief description of their specialties, opening dates and hours and a link to an interactive country map. There, candle icons indicate the market locations, enabling map zooming and route planning. Additional star icons point out other noteworthy attractions of the city or region.
