As the world gears up to go green on March 17, Tourism Ireland is wishing the world a Happy St. Patrick’s Day with Liam Neeson lending his voice to the 2015 campaign.

Neeson’s dulcet tones will be heard as part of a 60 second film that includes stunning footage of the island of Ireland, interwoven with iconic images of Tourism Ireland’s annual Global Greenings that take place every year in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day around the globe.
Each year thousands of landmarks, iconic sites, statues, buildings and even people and their pets go green to celebrate Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day.
In Canada, sites leading the Global Greening celebrations include the “green lantern” of the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa; and even the moose in Algonquin Provincial Park will be taking part in the #GoGreen4PatricksDay fun.
Toronto City Hall will green its iconic towers; and the hotel properties Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver, Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello in Quebec and Fairmont Empress in Victoria will also join the St Patrick’s Day greening celebrations in 2015.

The beautiful ski resort of Whistler will take the greenings into the Coast Mountain Range by greening their Fitzsimmons Creek Bridge; and lighting the sky emerald in St John’s, Newfoundland will be Cabot Tower on Signal Hill National Historic Site.
Around the world, the Coliseum in Rome and the Sacre-Coeur Basilica in the fabled district of Montmartre will be going green for the first time in 2015. The roaring waters of Niagara Falls, shared between Canada and the United States, will also be bathed in green. Other sites to be illuminated green include the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee; the London Eye; the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio De Janeiro.
Naturally, anyone can go green for St Patrick’s Day. And Tourism Ireland and Liam Neeson are putting a call out to anyone with a love of, or interest in Ireland to #GoGreen4PatricksDay by watching and sharing their online video and is extending an invite to come and experience all Ireland has to offer.
Dana Welch, Manager Tourism Ireland Canada said: “We are deeply grateful to our partners across Canada who help us bring the Global Greenings initiative to life, the success of the campaign is due in no small part to their great work. We also thank Liam Neeson for his support in attracting visitors to the island of Ireland.”

Welch continued: “Many people around the world feel a deep spiritual connection to Ireland and more than 70 million people claim links to the island of Ireland – 5 million of which are here in Canada. St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect moment for Canadians to reconnect with their heritage. It’s great to see the Global Greenings going from strength to strength.”
As for Neeson, he said: “I’m delighted to be helping Tourism Ireland celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. It will be wonderful to see the world turn green again on the 17th of March as nations come together to celebrate the fun and warmth of the Irish.”
