The 2015 Africa Showcase made its Canadian debut in early October with an inaugural stop in Toronto following events in Los Angeles, Dallas and Boston.

Presented by South African Airways (SAA) and On Show Solutions, the seventh annual educational travel trade show featured 30 tourism partners, briefing sessions with suppliers, prizes and destination presentations by the Zambia Tourism Board, South African Tourism, Namibia Wildlife Resorts and Namibia Tourism Board, reports staff writer, Ann Ruppenstein in this week’s digital edition of Canadian Travel Press.

“The real goal of [the showcase] is to educate the trade, to familiarize them, make them feel more comfortable with selling the destination and knowing the product,” Stroebel Bekker, vice president of sales, North America, for SAA, told Canadian Travel Press.

Aimed at travel agents and tour operators, the showcase is the largest travel trade event in North America focusing on African suppliers with representatives from hotels, safari lodges, and destination tourism boards.

“It’s exposing North America to the suppliers from Southern Africa and Africa in general,” added David Chorley, director of sales, Canada, for SAA. “It’s an educational to bring over the suppliers to meet with the local agencies to educate them on what’s available.”
