Vail Resorts held a series of one-on-one fireside chats for the industry yesterday (Oct. 14) in Toronto, providing a sneak peek into the 2015-2016 winter season in Colorado, Utah and Lake Tahoe.

“The Canadian market is one of our top international destination markets,” Abby Hein, senior specialist of international marketing at Vail Resorts Management Company, told PressToday. “Similar to us, a lot of you grow up skiing so there’s that passion and interest for it. It’s more affordable than people think.”

Coinciding with the 2015 Toronto Snow Show, Canada’s largest ski/snowboard travel show, Hein was on hand to discuss the latest happenings at its mountain resorts, including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Northstar California, Heavenly, Kirkwood and the recently acquired Perisher Ski Resort in New South Wales, Australia.

One of the latest developments is a $50 million project connecting Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort to create the largest resort in the US, Park City.

“It’s a two-way, high-speed gondola,” she says. “Being able to invest that much and at one season is unprecedented. What this means for a skier is not only access to a breadth of terrains that is extremely diverse, but it’s really being able to offer skiers the best lifts to get them around the mountain faster and improve circulation of skiers.”
