HOTEL CULTURE CELEBRATED

Commissioned by the Vancouver Art Gallery as a major exhibition, “Grand Hotel”charts the global evolution of that most well-known icon, the hotel. The two-floor exhibit examines the historical and contemporary design of the hotel, following its evolution from a utilitarian structure to a cultural phenomenon. The title of the exhibit comes from the influential 1932 Hollywood film Grand Hotel, which demonstrated the power of the hotel as a nexus of interaction and ideas. The exhibit runs to Sept. 15.
