Hotwire picks its Family Day Top 10

Hotwire.com has announced the 10 most popular destinations for Canadian travellers over Family Day 2012, based on hotel bookings. With many Canadians using the third Monday in February as a time to celebrate with their loved ones, the long weekend is the perfect opportunity to take the whole family on a short getaway or use the h holiday to begin a longer international vacation. Clem Bason, president of the Hotwire Group, said: “Family Day is a time to reflect on the importance of family life and what better way to celebrate that than by creating new memories with a family trip? It’s no surprise that some of the most booked destinations for Canadian travellers are located close to home in major Canadian cities, but it’s also exciting to see that folks are taking advantage of the long weekend and heading to other popular destinations outside of the country.” And based on its bookings between Dec. 2011 and Jan 2012 for stays between Feb. 16 and Feb. 21, Hotwire’s top 10 (including its average night ‘hot rate’) include New York ($122); Toronto ($82); Montreal ($94); Vancouver ($81); Orlando ($41); Minneapolis ($71); Fort Lauderdale ($115); Ottawa ($107); Las Vegas ($95); and Phoenix ($77).
