Hurricane Isaac pounds New Orleans

Exactly seven years after Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Isaac has come ashore in Louisiana and is pounding New Orleans with heavy rain and high winds, knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of people. According to reports, flood waters have crashed over a levee in a rural area and some people may be trapped. The U.S. National Hurricane Center reports that dangerous storm surges and flooding threats are expected to last into the night as Isaac makes its way from the Gulf Coast and into Louisiana. It’s also reported that the storm killed 24 in Haiti and five in the Dominican Republic over the weekend.
