The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) has promoted Michelle Drenker to director of market insights.

“Michelle has been an integral part of the marketing team from day one, not only providing key research and analytical support of HVCB’s leisure and meetings travel initiatives, as well as leadership in the Hawaii and national travel research community,” said John Monahan, president and CEO for HVCB. “We are confident that her skills will play a major role in our efforts to keep Hawaii on top for new generations of travellers.”

As director, Drenker is responsible for analyzing trends affecting tourism in Hawaii and HVCB programs. Her evaluation of customer, economic, business, and general travel trends will help generate research-based recommendations for marketing Hawaii as a leisure and meetings destination. Additionally, Drenker will direct marketing effectiveness research and analysis, digital analytics, and foundational research for HVCB’s annual brand marketing plan.

Prior to her promotion, Drenker held the position of market insights manager at HVCB. Before joining the HVCB team, she served as the research specialist for Tourism Whistler and before that, she was an assistant planner to Metro Vancouver’s regional transportation authority in British Columbia.
