Iceland Remains a Hot Destination for Goway
Iceland, introduced to Goway’s Europe program in 2014, has quickly become one of the company’s most popular destinations, be it as a holiday on its own or as a stopover en route to Europe with Iceland Air.
The island country is a popular cruise stop and as a standalone cruise option, with Goway offering a 10-day circumnavigation cruise to accommodate the cruise traveller. According to the Iceland Review Online, no less than 155 cruise ships are expected this summer, exceeding last year’s record number of 113.
The long days of summer offer plenty of daylight hours to hike the pristine landscapes, take a four-wheel drive over a glacier, or to go for a swim in a thermal pool. In winter, the countryside is bathed in the eerie light of the Aurora Borealis, local festivals abound, and snow sports are a must.
The year-on-year increase has commonly been 25.4% during the period 2010-2016 and the same trend is expected into 2017. This makes accommodation hard to find and is part of why Goway recommends small group tours, with pre-booked hotels, or guaranteed self drives, again with pre-booked and confirmed accommodation.
For those en route to and from Europe, Goway offers a four-day Reykjavik stopover or a quick three-day option.
