Inn At Laurel Point GM Named Top Hotelier

Ian Powell, a hotelier with over 40 years in the international hospitality industry, was named hotelier of the year during the recent BC Hospitality Summit in Kelowna.

Powell is the general manager of Inn at Laurel Point in Victoria. The annual industry award recognizes an individual displaying management, leadership and communication skills at the highest levels of excellence, plus a commitment to employees, community and the industry at large.

This recognition comes at a time when the Inn at Laurel Point is undergoing a major renovation of its ground floor and surrounding gardens. The goal is to complete the vision of the original owners, who commissioned renowned architect Arthur Erickson for the hotel’s first renovation in 1989. This current renovation project is set to be complete by the summer of 2019.

The Inn at Laurel Point is situated on a parkland peninsula in the heart of Victoria’s Inner Harbour, and has 200 water-view rooms.
