In honour of the 2014 centenary year for the Great War, Insight Vacations invites travellers and history buffs to join their unique Canadian Battlefields of Europe — A Journey of Remembrance tour that offers a full scope of historical Canadian battlefields and memorial sits, while showcasing the region’s beauty, culture, cuisine and art. “Remembrance Day is a poignant reminder for Canadians to pay tribute to the great men and women who fought in the Great War,” said Insight Canada president Cris David. “Our unique 13-day itinerary is hosted by a Canadian military historian, Dr. Jody Perrun, who takes our guests through the Netherlands, Belgium and Northern France. Dr. Perrun, a teacher at the Royal Military College of Canada and a specialist in WWI and WWII, will take travellers on an in-depth journey tracing Canada’s involvement in the great wars.”

Departing on July 6, 2014, this special departure starts in Amsterdam and visits the Canadian War Cemetery in Groesbeck, then to Ypres to visit the famous Flanders Fields, tour the Tyne Cot Cemetery and St. Julien Memorial. Guests visit the town of Passchendaele and continue on to the Canadian National Vimy Memorial at Vimy Ridge and the Somme Valley with its Lochnagar Crater and memorials. The tour ends in Paris with a full day at leisure.
