InterContinental Marks International Day of Yoga

The InterContinental Toronto Centre offers guests flexibility when it comes to the likes of spa appointments, dining, check-ins and their bodies.

The downtown hotel this morning marked the United Nations-declared International Day of Yoga with a free mass yoga class in the lobby, which drew some 75 guests and community residents eager to begin their day with the likes of stretching exercises under the watchful eye of a skilled yoga instructor.

“We wanted to do something that engages our community,” says Mary Ann Gamboa, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing. “The hotel is the centre of it all when it comes to its location and yoga is about being centred.”

Gamboa notes her hotel has a spa and is eager to promote healthy lifestyles to both guests and the surrounding community, with previous InterContinental Toronto Centre events having included a Zumba rally, with those events taking advantage of what Gamboa calls the hotel’s “vast lobby.”

And Gamboa is totally confident that those who took part in this morning’s event are better off for it.

“We’re so grateful that so many are going to work mellow and going to have a productive and calm day,” she says.
