Intrepid Introduces New Ryerson Scholarship
Intrepid Travel has furthered its commitment to sustainable tourism and the tourism industry with a new scholarship at Toronto’s Ryerson University.
The Intrepid Travel Responsible Tourism Award will provide a $2,500 annual scholarship to a student of Ryerson University’s Hospitality and Tourism Management program. This marks the first scholarship the travel company has donated in Canada. The award grants $1,500 plus a $1,000 Intrepid Travel trip voucher to allow students to understand what sustainability and responsible tourism looks like in practice.
Applicants must achieve high academic standing in the university’s Sustainable Tourism Development and Issues and Policies in Tourism courses, as well outline in a short essay their personal and professional commitments to sustainability.
Intrepid has worked alongside Ryerson University’s Hospitality and Tourism Management program for over six years and continues to provide internship opportunities for students, as well organize the university’s annual Directors Credit course, which allows students to learn about tourism in countries around the world in exchange for a university credit.
Students can apply for the scholarship at the Ryerson HTM Awards website where applications are being accepted until Sept. 9. The first Intrepid Travel Responsible Tourism Award will be awarded on Nov. 8 at a ceremony in Toronto.
