A few weeks ago, Intrepid Travel launched its Travel for Good campaign in hopes of donating $150,000 into four grassroots projects supported by The Intrepid Foundation.

The small group adventure travel company committed to donating 10% of every trip purchased to projects helping in the fight against malnutrition, energy poverty, animal welfare and human trafficking in their communities.

Thanks to the support of travellers and several generous donations, Intrepid not only achieved, but surpassed their goal.

The projects supported:

Kusimayo: Kusimayo improves the living conditions of children and adults affected by poverty and malnutrition in one of Peru’s poorest regions, the high plains of Puno.

  • Provided 1,000 healthy meals to preschoolers
  • Has insulated and modified 92 homes to help fight the cold

Blue Dragon: Blue Dragon’s primary aim is to rescue kids from danger, reunite them with their families when possible, and provide all the services needed for recovery and growth.

  • Helped 4,000 kids return to school
  • Rescued over 570 children from trafficking

Friends of the Asian Elephants: Friends of the Asian Elephant help to rehabilitate and care for elephants that were once used in entertainment venues, and for elephant rides throughout Thailand.

  • Helped 82 elephants last year
  • Care for five full time elephants

Pollinate: Pollinate improves the lives of India’s urban poor by providing access to sustainable energy products to improve health and lighting, use less fuels and save money.

  • 4.39M kg of CO2 emissions saved
  • 17,107 clean energy systems installed
