Ireland Is Open

Tourism Ireland welcomed delegates to the annual travel trade fairs, Meet the Buyer and Meitheal 2022 this week, in partnership with its sister agencies on the island of Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland.

The annual events provide a platform for Irish tourism providers from all around the island of Ireland to meet new contacts and to do business with buyers from around the world, including Canada. 2022 marks the first in-person conferences of their kind since 2019.

The workshops took place from March 28 to March 29 for Meet The Buyer in Belfast and March 30 to April 1 for Meitheal in Killarney – with pre-arranged, scheduled appointments between tourism companies from the island of Ireland and international buyers.

These events are among the most important in the Irish tourism calendar, allowing tourism providers on the island of Ireland to highlight some of the most compelling and attractive experiences Ireland has to offer, in a bid to influence the travel professionals attending to include Ireland in their vacation programs for 2023 and beyond. The industry platform is a key part of the island of Ireland’s recovery plans, facilitating product and program development for our partners.

Meet the Buyer 2022 will see over 140 influential tour operators from 16 international markets meet with over 160 key representatives from many sectors of the Northern Ireland tourism industry. Meitheal 2022 will provide a platform for over 300+ International Travel Trade buyers from 20 countries and 400+ Republic of Ireland Industry.

Sandra Moffatt, Tourism Ireland’s Manager, Canada, said “We are delighted to be back in person for Meet the Buyer and Meitheal, a key element of our recovery strategy and opportunities to work closely with the travel trade, highlighting the many unique and wonderful experiences the island of Ireland has to offer, while also facilitating the connections between tour operators and suppliers to enhance their 2023 and beyond program offerings. After a challenging two years, Meet the Buyer and Meitheal showcase that Ireland is open and welcoming visitors to enjoy their trip of a lifetime!”
