Karisma Hotels & Resorts celebrated the official launch of the third annual Canadian Beef Culinary Series in Toronto last night (Oct. 29) with a VIP dinner for travel agents presented with Air Canada Vacations (ACV).

The Canadian Beef Culinary Series, a partnership between Karisma Hotels & Resorts, Jackson Family Wines and Canadian Beef, takes place the second week of every month at its collection of Gourmet Inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. The 2016 line-up of Canadian chefs includes Toronto-based Carl Heinrich and Hayden Johnson of Richmond Station and Ted Corrado of The Drake/The Drake 150.

“Canadians are responding really well to the Gourmet Inclusive experience,” Alex Portman, national sales & marketing manager at Karisma, told PressToday. “As we grow our brand within Canada we’re finding a lot more of our clients are looking for sustainable produce, sustainable hotels, sustainable tourism, with incredible food, incredible wines. They’re not looking for a buffet. They’re not looking to go to a cookie-cutter hotel.”

Portman also highlighted ongoing developments such as the upcoming launch of the new El Dorado Seaside Suites in Dec., a Nickelodeon Hotel by Karisma debuting in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in 2016, which will allow guests to interact with characters like Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the first overwater suites in Mexico, coming to the El Dorado Maroma in 2016.

“Air Canada Vacations is growing in double digits. We are offering more flights into all those wonderful popular destinations that you can find a Karisma hotel,” says Dianne Pedroso, area sales manager at ACV. “This winter, into Cancun, we’re offering daily flights out of Toronto as well as we’re offering direct non-stop flights from other major gateways across Canada such as Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax, Calgary and Winnipeg. We also have lots flying into Punta Cana as well as Jamaica.”
