‘Kids Go Free’ With European Waterways

European Waterways is catering to the growing market for family travel with a new “kids go free” promotion on select hotel barges in France and Scotland this summer.

The company is also offering a wider range of family friendly excursions and meal options that will appeal to families with children of all ages. On the eight-passenger L’Art de Vivre in Burgundy and Anjodi on the Canal du Midi, two children can go free on each barge, as part of the promotion. On the 12-passenger La Belle Epoque in Burgundy and Spirit of Scotland, the company’s newest luxury vessel cruising the Caledonian Canal in Scotland, up to three children can go free. Children must be under 18 and the whole boat charters must be booked by May 30 to qualify.

Based on the “kids go free” promotion – which equates to a 25% saving – whole boat charters of L’Art de Vivre are $25,125, down from $33,500. Eligible departure dates are July 23 and Aug. 13 and 20. Similar savings are available on Anjodi for its Aug. 13 departure.

Whole boat charter prices for Spirit of Scotland are $37,125, reduced from $49,500, for its Aug. 13 and 20 departures. Again, similar charter savings are available for La Belle Epoque for its Aug. 13 departure.

Among its program of family friendly activities, European Waterways is offering theme park admissions, prehistoric cave exploration and go-karting. Onboard menus for all the family, from informal BBQs to gourmet meals, are specially prepared by the onboard master chef. Guests can also book other activities such as hot air ballooning and horse-back riding directly with local providers when they are onboard.
