LUFTHANSA OPENS CHILD-FRIENDLY CHECK-IN AREAS

Lufthansa now offers “Family Check-in Areas” at the airline’s Frankfurt and Munich hubs designed to ensure that the check-in process for families is “stress-free, convenient and above all enjoyable.” Catering to families with children up to age 12, the special counters provide young travellers with their own unique check-in experience. A welcome archway featuring Lufthansa’s adventurous crane mascots, Lu and Cosmo, leads to a runway-styled carpet. Young passengers and their parents arrive at a kid-friendly counter where little travellers climb up a few steps for an up-close view of the check-in procedure. And when the family receives boarding passes, even little cuddly passengers are included with a “Best Friend Boarding Pass” issued to the child’s favourite teddy bear or doll.

“Airline travel has always been an exciting experience for children,” said Jürgen Siebenrock, vice-president, The Americas. “Lufthansa wants to enhance the adventure by making children and families feel especially at home when they fly with us. Our new family geared offerings are designed to make flying a memorable experience right from the moment they arrive at the airport.”

In Frankfurt, the family-friendly check-in areas are located in Departure Hall B at counters 336-338, while in Munich they can be found in Terminal 2 at counters 422-423 on the Departures Level. After check-in, there is still much to do before heading to the aircraft. “The Family Pilot” brochure offers vouchers and information about play areas, baby changing stations, family friendly restaurants, pharmacies and supermarkets, as well as observation decks located throughout the airport. Guests with access to Lufthansa’s First and Business Class Lounges can also enjoy dedicated play areas for kids. (http://www.lufthansa.com)
