Luxury Gold From Insight

Insight Vacations’ new new luxury collection has a Gold hue.

Cris David, who oversees the tour operator’s Canadian program, told a Thursday Toronto gathering that the tour operator has raised the bar in the escorted tours industry with its new Luxury Gold Collection, which he pronounced “exceptional product that will define guided vacations today and into the future.”

Luxury Gold’s arrival comes as the number of affluent travellers is on the rise, according to David. A 2010 survey he cited suggested 4% of leisure travellers earned over $250,000 a year. The same survey predicted that figure will reach 10% next year.

Those booking an itinerary that falls under the banner of Luxury Gold – which has 10 European itineraries that begin next spring, along with trips in North America, India and Peru – will stay in what David pronounced the “finest hotels,” among them London’s The Milestone, which won the Best Hotel in the UK award at the 2014 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards. Those visiting the Indian city of Udaipur will stay at the Taj Lake Palace Hotel, a onetime palace surrounded by a lake and which appeared in the James Bond movie Octopussy. It now serves as an upscale hotel that reflects the wealth of India’s maharajas and Insight promotes it as a “floating vision in marble.”

David also said Luxury Gold Collection clients will have “once-in-a-lifetime experiences,” and can “step in the shoes of locals.” Those visiting Rome, for instance, can see the storied Sistine Chapel on a tour led by a Renaissance historian before it opens to the rest of the public. The early visit means Luxury Gold clients won’t be jostled by the large crowds that arrive after the chapel opens to the mainstream public, he continued.

Luxury Gold itineraries feature what are billed as travelling concierges who will “give our guests an Insight view of the destination,” David said.
