Mark Carney leads Liberals to a remarkable election win

The Liberals will form the next government of Canada and Mark Carney will be the next Prime Minister.

What remains to be determined is whether the Liberals will have their hoped-for majority government or whether it will be a minority.

This morning, the results—leading and elected—have the Liberals with 168 seats – four seats short of a majority. The Conservatives are at 144 seats. The Bloc have 23, followed by the NDP at 7 and the Green Party with one seat.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre failed to win his seat as did NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh.

Singh in his concession speech, indicated that he will step down as soon as an interim leader is appointed.

In his speech last night, Mark Carney told his audience that: “It is a time to be bold, to meet this crisis with the overwhelming positive force of a united Canada.”
