Tourism officials from Mexico City dropped by Toronto last night to update the travel trade on all that’s happening in the Mexican capital, including strong visitor numbers from Canada.

Ricardo Goria Tamer of the Mexico City Tourism Trust (CDMX) told PressToday numbers from Canada are up 30% since 2012.

“We’re very proud of this, but are looking to make it better,” he said, adding Mexico City is very affordable for Canadians, is easily accessible and offers a nice mix of traditional and modern facilities.

He added the city has thriving business, arts, culture and culinary industries, offering rich experiences for visitors of varying interests.

“As one of the largest cities in the world there’s something for everyone,” he said.

There are even seven pyramids located within the city limits, as well as colonial and pre-Hispanic influences dating back to 1325.
Tamer encouraged Canadians travelling to Mexico’s beach destinations to spend some time in Mexico City.

“It’s a great opportunity to get a true taste of Mexico,” he said. “It’s a special place.”

Pictured at the Toronto event, which, of course, featured margaritas and freshly made guacamole, are Priscilla Eunice Enciso Flores, also of CDMX, and Tamer.
