Mondee Canada Wraps Up Cross-Canada Sales Mission In YVR

A national travel trade mission by Mondee Canada to meet travel professionals across the nation wrapped up in Vancouver last week. The tour had kicked off in Toronto with a big turnout of 300-plus advisors earlier in May, followed by stops in Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton before reaching YVR.

About 140 travel advisors came to the Vancouver event at the Hilton Metrotown, to take in messaging about Mondee’s broad spectrum of travel services. The amalgamation of Skylink Canada and CTS Canada under the Mondee banner has fortified the company’s ability to offer bookings across a wide range of travel products, from air tickets and cruise bookings to hotel reservations and car rentals.

It is now the #1 wholesaler in the North Americas airfare market, and 80% of its business is done with North American international leisure travel, said a company executive during the dinner event. Mondee chief commercial officer Yuvraj Datta pinpointed some of the product availability highlights, like 500-plus airlines, 1 million-plus hotel/vacation accommodations, 30,000 car rental locations and 50-plus cruise line options.

He also highlighted a few tools that Mondee users can access, including a conversational commerce feature that allows advisors to discuss bookings with their travellers, change commissions, and send links for others to join in the discussion.

Mondee opportunities like this have been well received by travel advisors, who are emerging from the pandemic years with a high degree of enthusiasm and confidence, said Sandeep Mamgain, the VP of Mondee Canada. In an interview with Baxter Media, he said that he was “pleased to see the engagement by agents with Mondee,” and that “their success is our success.”

Datta described the company’s global expansion progress, and noted that it had recently acquired Interep, a large B2B luxury travel company in Brazil. He added that Canada was a very tech savvy market and that he was optimistic for the success of Mondee in this country. The company has core operations in India, Thailand and Greece.
