Canada’s top international tourism marketplace is heading to Montreal in 2016.

The Palais des congrès de Montréal will be transformed into a hive of tourism-business activity April 24-27 for the 40th edition of Rendez-vous Canada (RVC), the Canadian Tourism Commission’s (CTC) flagship event. Tourism Quebec and Tourisme Montréal won the competitive bid to act as hosts.

Hundreds of the most influential global travel buyers from more than 20 countries will meet with Canadian sellers to check out the latest tourism products and services, broker deals and close sales.
These thousands of one-to-one appointments generate hundreds of millions of dollars of revenue for Canadian tourism businesses, which help to grow the $88.5 billion industry and to support the 619,000 Canadian jobs that depend on tourism.

“Montreal is world renowned for its fashion, food, arts and culture, as well as its unique and authentic tourism experiences,” says CTC president David Goldstein. “We’re thrilled to have this city and province in the spotlight for the hundreds of global buyers and media who will gather here in 2016 as the momentum in tourism growth continues its upward trend.”

The international visitor economy sees travellers spend $3 billion a day, helping to make tourism one of the largest and fastest-growing economic sectors in the world.

RVC 2015 takes place this week (May 26-29) at the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, Ont.
