More RIU in Cancun

RIU Hotels & Resorts has a fourth Cancun property, the Riu Palace Peninsula, a luxury 24-hour all-inclusive beachfront resort. It’s the fourth RIU property in the destination, with the Spanish hotel chain already having the Riu Cancun, Riu Caribe and Riu Palace Las Americas. The Riu Palace Peninsula has modern and contemporary architecture and its 562 rooms are located in a main building and 48 villas. The hotel also features on its grounds Mayan ruins called Ta’acul, meaning “that which remains hidden.”The ruins were recently excavated by the National Institute of Anthropology and History, with funding provided by RIU, which is also responsible for the care and maintenance of the site. Hotel guests will find five specialty restaurants and the main restaurant, Las Olas. Also found are the Japanese Kabuki, fusion restaurant Krystal, Mexican Tamales, Italian Venecia and steakhouse Isla Mujeres. Customers can also choose from seven bars. Water sports like windsurfing, kayaking or snorkeling are available and the hotel has five swimming pools, one with an integrated Jacuzzi and swim-up bar, and another exclusive to the villas. The Riu Palace Peninsula also provides an entertainment program during the day, a nightly entertainment show and a full Renova Spa, in which the gym, sauna and Jacuzzi are included in the all-inclusive package.
