Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) unveiled its newest ship, Norwegian Escape, to the world yesterday in Miami with a little celebrity flair — with godfather Pitbull (international music star Armando Christian Perez) doing the christening honours.

The ceremony took place before a large crowd of industry personnel, including travel agents, tour operators and media, just prior to a two-day inaugural sailing.

The 4,200-plus passenger ship is NCL’s largest and has many unique features, including the first Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritville at sea and a Snow Room in the ship’s spa. The ship’s hull features artwork by renowned marine artist Guy Harvey, who attended the christening ceremony.
Following a couple of inaugural trade sailings, Norwegian Escape will begin week-long Caribbean sailings out of Miami on Nov. 14.
