Parents Getaway Package

Victoria, BC’s Inn at Laurel Point is making it a little less stressful for parents delivering kids to their Vancouver Island “home away from home,”and providing distractions so parents don’t hover too much while settling students in. Called the “Parents Getaway Package,”it has been designed as much for parental pampering as it is for students needing a little breathing room. Inn at Laurel Point is conveniently located in downtown Victoria, which has eight colleges and universities, and numerous boarding schools in the surrounding area. In fact, the hotel is only a 20-minute drive (less than 10 km) from the University of Victoria and Glenlyon Norfolk School, and about a 15-minute drive to Camosun College’s Lansdowne Campus or St Michael’s University School. “They are nicknamed ‘helicopter’ parents, because they hover around their kids, which can add stress on both sides,”says Ian Powell, managing director of Inn at Laurel Point. “We want parents to be able to celebrate this important milestone in their kid’s life yet divert them with a little pampering so students can get on with their new school year.”The Parents Getaway Package starts at $464 per night, based on double occupancy, and is subject to availability (48 hours advance booking is required). The package includes one night in an ultra-lux studio suite (equipped with a pull-out sofa should the student wish to spend one last night with their parents), a one-hour in-room couples massage, $40 food and beverage credit and complimentary parking. Furry, four-legged members of the family are also welcome to send the student off and receive their own pampering at the hotel. (http://www.laurelpoint.com)
