AeroMexico is on the verge of delivering Ontario residents to Mexico City, points in Mexico beyond the country’s capital and locales in Latin America well beyond Mexico as well. The airline will begin non-stop Toronto-Mexico City service May 4 using B737s that can carry 124 passengers, 12 of them in business class. The SkyTeam member’s flights will leave the Ontario capital at 8:30 a.m., arriving in Mexico City at 12:35 p.m. Return flights will leave Mexico City at 1 a..m, arriving in Toronto at 6:46 a.m. The airline already links Montreal with Mexico City and hopes to begin a Vancouver-Mexico City route in late 2015. “Obviously, Canada has become a very important market for AeroMexico,” Claudia Gonzalez of AeroMexico’s New York office told a Thursday Toronto gathering. The daily Montreal service has been “very successful,” she said. Gonzalez told the Toronto crowd that AeroMexico is Mexico’s largest carrier, and offers “great connectivity” from Mexico City to points elsewhere in the country, including major tourism centres. But she added that the airline also serves points in Central and South America that those who begin their journeys in this country will be able to connect on. Meanwhile, Ivan Vukov of AeroMexico’s Montreal office said the airline has refurbished airplane interiors among other things. “Everything we do on board is to make your lives as comfortable as possible.” Pictured are Vukov; Gonzalez; Mauricio Toussaint, Mexico’s consul-general in Toronto; and Rodrigo Esponda of the Mexico Tourism Board.
