Curacao has big plans for tourismCuracao is on the verge of gaining many more hotel rooms and an uplifting attraction, Toronto travel agents have been told. Abdul Nasser El Hakim, the island’s minister of economic development, told an audience in Toronto on Thursday that the island is slated to see thousands of more hotel rooms, while upcoming attractions include one that he said will give them a sky-high view of the destination. “You will soon be able to send your clients up into space,” he said without disclosing many details. Curacao, already popular with divers, also has an attraction that takes participants to far greater depths than divers go, Nasser El Hakim noted. Seen here with Nasser El Hakim is Emmy Rosaria, sales manager at Breezes Curacao. Meanwhile, June is Travel Agent Appreciation Month in Curacao and American Airlines is offering a 50% discount for agents visiting Curacao in that month and many hotels have special agent rates for June. As well, the Curacao Tourist Board is offering agents a free full-day island tour. (http://www.curacao.com/travelagentseason)
