Baxter Travel Media’s dynamic duo provided this glimpse of what’s going on at the annual mega-travel industry event in Berlin. One of the big news stories is IPK International’s release of the preliminary results of its annual World Travel Monitor. IPK’s research reveals that in spite of the upheaval in world events during 2011, the recovery in consumer travel demand that began in 2010 continued in 2011 — with a 5% rise in global outbound travel (with overnights) in 2011 to 750 million, following a gain of 7% in 2010. Those results, IPK said, represent a new record high in global outbound travel.
