Porter lands in Kelowna with new Ottawa flights

Porter Airlines continues to add to its network, expanding its presence in British Columbia with flights between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Kelowna International Airport (YLW). Porter is the only carrier offering non-stop flights between the two destinations.
The service, featuring five weekly roundtrip flights that will increase to six weekly flights in June, began on May 13.
Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting, Porter Airlines, explained that: “Expanding our presence in Kelowna strengthens our Western Canada network and reinforces our commitment to connecting travellers across the country. By enhancing connectivity between the west and the east, we’re opening up more convenient, reliable options for Canadians to travel where they want to go.”
This is the second Kelowna route that Porter serves, complementing existing Toronto Pearson flights.
Service to other cities in British Columbia include Vancouver and Victoria. Flights operate on the new 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. It has the lowest fuel consumption per seat and per trip in its class and is the quietest single-aisle jet flying today. The two-by-two configuration means there are no middle seats on any Porter flight.
Travellers will appreciate Kelowna’s mountainous landscapes and the Okanagan Valley’s world class wineries. The year-round destination will benefit from direct access to Canada’s capital, as well as improved connections to Eastern Canada, such as Halifax and St. John’s.
Kelowna adds to Ottawa’s growing Western Canada network, with service to Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria and Winnipeg.
