Pow Wow Report: USTA getting the vote out for tourism

The US Travel Association (USTA) has launched an election-year rolling campaign to get more legislative respect for tourism. The Vote Travel bus will have travelled 60,000 kilometres and visited almost 40 major cities by the time the presidential election is held this November. According to USTA’s Roger Dow, pictured at an International Pow Wow press conference in front of the bus parked at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the aim is to get his organization’s message in front of the media across the nation and thence to the candidates. Dow explained, “It’s a gimmick to get a serious message across concerning the importance of travel to the nation’s economy.” He added, “Politicians watch television and, hopefully, they will add our issue to their agendas.”
