PRINCEVILLE GETS NEW PAR-3 MINI-PRINCE

The acclaimed Prince Course at Princeville Golf Club, on Kauai’s north shore, has introduced a new six-hole Par 3 course dubbed the “Mini Prince,”which opened on April 1. The Mini Prince is carved out of the Prince Clubhouse’s practice facility, which has always included practice greens and bunkers. The existing practice greens have been enhanced and expanded into six complete par 3 holes, serving double duty as part of the driving range earlier in the day, then morphing into a six-hole course in late afternoon. The driving range closes at 3 p.m. daily, and the Mini Prince course opens at 4 p.m. for the first tee time. The Mini Prince is a walking course designed for all skill levels and is particularly suited to families who want to enjoy golf together. Individual holes range from 65 to 91 yards in length. Each features individual tee locations of artificial turf mats, and each green has been equipped with a larger putting cup, for easier novice putting. Play on the six-hole course can be completed in about 30 minutes and repeated as many times as desired until sunset, when it closes. The rate for the Mini Prince is $15 for adults and is free for juniors age 8-17 if accompanied by a paying adult. The 18-hole Prince Course has long been ranked at or near the top in Hawaii. Its layout covers 350 acres of rolling terrain, tropical jungle, gullies, streams and waterfalls. (http://www.princeville.com)
