If your clients are thinking of a summer or winter holiday, then Qantas has just provided some additional options, with its announcement that it will offer more non-stop flights from Vancouver to Sydney with an extended seasonal schedule.

Stephen Thompson, executive manager international sales for Qantas, said the decision to offer more flights from Vancouver came at the end of a successful first season of flying during the December to January travel period.

“Our non-stop Vancouver services proved really popular so we’re pleased to expand them this year, offering customers more flights on more days over the Canadian winter and summer,” Thompson said.

And he added: “This is great news for customers planning their next international holiday, this time catering for those wanting to explore the best of Australia in either winter or summer, with something to offer every type of traveller all year round.”

He pointed out that: “Customers can also enjoy seamless connections to the services from destinations across Canada with our codeshare partner WestJet.”

Thompson continued: “Our focus with this new schedule is to give customers more choice. We’ve increased services from two to three per week, and will ensure customers can maximize their holiday time with night flights in both directions.”

According to Thompson, the additional service is made possible by Qantas’ continued focus on improving aircraft utilization, explaining that the services also deliver on the airline’s strategy of targeting seasonal peaks to provide customers with more choice at the time of year they want to travel.

Commenting on the announcement, Vancouver Airport Authority president and CEO, Craig Richmond said the airport was thrilled to welcome Qantas back to Vancouver for summer and winter services.

“Their return provides Canadian and Australian travellers with great options for vacation destinations and brings growth in tourism and economic benefits to the province,” Richmond said.

Qantas will operate 33 return services between Vancouver and Sydney – 13 return services in June and July, and 20 return services from mid-December to late January 2016, operated by a three-cabin, 364-seat refurbished B747 aircraft.

Special launch fares – available for sale from now to Feb. 11, 2015 – for the Vancouver-Sydney services start from CDN$1,599 (including $169 taxes, fees and charges), for travel from June 20 to July 18, 2015, and from CDN$2,299 (including $169 taxes, fees and charges) for travel from Dec. 12, 2015 to Jan. 23, 2016.
