RTTF webinars kick off Sept. 12

By 2020 it’s estimated that more than 1.6 billion tourists will travel across the planet, making the traveller’s role a crucial one when it comes to supporting sustainable tourism and the responsible initiatives of travel providers. In the first instalment of the 2012 RTTF Webinar Series, join sustainable travel experts Aaron Smith, president, GoVoluntouring, and Jacqueline Kuehnel, principal, JK Consulting Enterprises, on Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. EST to examine how the travel trade can help vacationers support sustainable tourism. From re-using towels to purchasing carbon offsets, the webinar will illustrate a traveller’s impacts before they leave, while they travel and when they return; help travel suppliers develop information to encourage vacationers to make responsible choices; and present options for direct involvement in environmental, social and economic projects through volunteering. Travel industry professionals can register for free thanks to the support of series sponsors Air Canada, Delta Chelsea Toronto, and Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Ryerson University. Baxter Travel Media’s interactive webinar series offers travel professionals, from anywhere across Canada, the chance to learn about the environmental, social and economic issues affecting the industry from the comfort and convenience of their own desks.
